Can't say that I have... done about 70,000km with it off in a motor which has done 370,000 km.
Has anyone hade any issues after performing this procedure?
Earlier Ford Ranger/Mazda BT 50 engines burn holes in the pistons with the deletion. The reticulated gas reduces combustion temperatures.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

EGR delete and its risks is related to the braining behind why and how the system is used.
IF (as in the TD5) its primary use is to reduce the formation of oxides of nitrogen (as opposed to nitros-oxide which would be a lot more fun) at lower power settings, over run and trailing throttle) by displacing some of the normal air with something inert then on paper you can delete the egr system without detriment to the engine (of course the greenies will have conniptions about this so dont do it, they whined until it was illegal).
this is typically only a euro 3 and early 4 compliant engine thing..
If however your egr system is there to also moderate cylinder temps while getting onto the noise and to limit max egts... then deleting it can have some pretty undesirable results. The engine management system shouldn't let this be the case but when everything is on its limits and you pull out a system in its entirety then things do go pearshaped. As a rough guess at a rule, if you're vehicle has EGT flow/temp o2 sensors that pick up on what is going into the intake manifold post EGR then deleting the EGR is possibly not going to do you huge favors.
OF course, deleting the EGR early enough might just stop enough of the crap going into your engine from the exhaust that you dont suffer all of the degredation that comes from not removing it.
I'd be willing to take a quite side bet that engines that have had egrs removed and then failed probably wouldn't have failed if
a, they had the egr removed at 0hrs
b, they never had the egr removed and just had the system cleaned up.

If you don't mind your dirty emissions helping to kill about 1000 Aussies a year, then go ahead and delete it.
