    Welcome to Land Rover ownership.

My take on it is I am running a D1 Smart bar (plastic bull bar) on a 2001 D2. Fits fine just a large gap under the headlights due to different shape.

From the look of it the rear bumpers might be different, but I could be wrong..

It will fit on the chassis rails, no dramas. You may need to be 'creative', with the final touches.
The gap under headlights on my 04D2 isn't too dramatic. The bar is an arb off an 97disco.
You will also need to be 'creative' with the aluminium crush cans....or not use them, up to you.
I have more pics of the fitment process if you require.
    Cheers.

The early model bar won't be airbag compliant.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

For the D2 that's irrelevant as it doesnt have crash sensors, the SRS deployment is managed exclusively by the DCU(SRS ECU) based on deceleration rate and inbuilt electromechanical safing sensor so it will work with any or no bumper .

I wouldn't worry as all the bulbar fitments I've seen on most types of vehicles have gaps that I can stick my finger in. I do have a theory that the aluminium ones are closer fitting, pro'ly as the material is easier to work with.
