Thread: D2 traction control

Mate having done a lot of sand work in a D2 (without, and later with centre diff lock) my recommendation is to leave it active. It doesn't cut engine power at all unlike some Japanese brands and with CD locked it's a boon in sand if you don't keep backing off the throttle where it then has to have a think about things.

+1, i don think it's a good ideea but even worst ideea is to turn off the ECU cos then it will not deliver the VSS which is used by the engine management and speedometer(+SLS and ACE if fitted). If you are convinced that it's good for you and insist to have a switch insert one on the return pump relay's circuit cos then the 3 amigos will come on for relay open circuit and the TC is disabled cos it can't work without pump. I's the white/orange wire from C0506 pin 15 at the ECU(see Electrical library - connector views)

Ok, thanks thats great, so will the 3 amigos go off once the pin 15 wire circuit is closed(via switch) or will i need a nanacom to reset the 3 amigos every time i flick the switch?

Hi sierrafery, do you know of any other way to turn the traction control off on my model that isnt as dodgy? I have an d2 upgrade 2003.

Exactly.

In fact as I have said before the sons Puma was playing up on a trip to Fraser,and TC was disabled at times.

It was much more capable in the soft stuff with TC operational,than without.

I dont know a ''clean'' way to disable the TC as it was conceived to be automatic, the 3 amigos should go out once the circuit is restored. Though if you have CDL and engage it before you turn ignition on then the TC should not be a problem cos it's very reduced... while i sustain the others who say that it's no problem anyway no matter where you drive

hi sierra, in regards to ...........Though if you have CDL and engage it before you turn ignition on then the TC should not be a problem cos it's very reduced... I have been told that that feature does not work on the 2003 D2 upgarde, only on pre upgraded 2003. or was i informed wrongly

TC is your Friend in sand Not your enemy, Don't worry about turning off the TC and simply engage your CDL and drive down the beach
