    TD5 d2a EGTs

How high are peoples egts in an D2 td5 Manual? I have gotten it up to 700c up an long hill, so is that consider normal?

Mines went even higher(800+) when i had bigger heavy MT tyres(255/70/16) but on slightly bigger AT tyres(245/70/16) under heavy load uphill doesnt exceed 650 on long climb and on std dimension up to 600 max, cruising on motorway around 300... large intercooler and straight through exhaust + stage 1 remap, probe in the EGR blanking plate on the exhaust. So the bigger the tyres are the higher the EGT goes... on std tyres 700 is high IMO

Also depends on where you are measuring the temperature from.
Ill hit 900 if I run the engine hard up a hill with a remapped engine and 265 tyres. Not something I really try to do though.
Thats measuring in the manifold right before entering the turbo. Measuring after the turbo or through where the EGR would fit normally would see lower results.
I am pretty sure its sits at 400 on the dead flat at 100km/h

    AlertMe

I don’t let mine get much above 700 on hills although it will flash to 750 if on cruise control while towinG my 900 kg loaded camper.
my take off is on nubbin Prix to tuRbo and 255 70 x 16.
I think 700 is a good temp as my ceramic coated and dewebbed manifold has not leaked for several years.
I cruise at about 300c at 100 kms no trailer, 400 with trailer.
    Stage ? ,big intercooler,egr, decat,free flow , 22psi

I think all you guys would benefit from more airflow!

Mines pretty tuned and I never see those figures.

I can tell you with the tuning I've done, especially if you can afford a better turbo and intercooler, that it's really hard to hit 650 once you get enough aircharge. Of course this depends on staying within the turbo flow specs , (or a whisker beyond) , and making sure the map is tuned to suit so that at higher demand the engine is still running a reasonable stoichiometric range.

Most "remaps" I see are running wildly rich at about 70% of engine demand, then lean out as aircharge gets higher. Many ignore this problem as it is a bit of effort (and some new hardware is required) to run efficiently right through the rev/demand range.
    But well worth it!

Well I have an td5inside hybrid turbo running 27psi and remap with an allisport manifold and Serck intercooler and the egt probe is tapped in at the top before it enters the turbo and I run 3inch lift and 265 km2 so maybe 700 is reasonable for what it is

Yep fair call, but there are plenty of other td5s that would benefit from more air, and realistically 27 psi is probably getting out of the flow map for a hybrid as well, I've run up to 32 psi but after a certain point all you are doing is making heat, so I would or back with estimating no discernable difference.
I'm also running 27 psi with a hybrid but I think that 24 is probably more acceptable before IAT gets out of hand.

    Cheers
