I assume you are doing more than 80, don't have oversize tyres, plus have finished accelerating and not in Sport mode?

Hi Phillip, yes temp at half, but fans ran longer than i would expect when stopped at home. Put it down to running at 3000rpm on freeway to not get run over

I'm going to assume you are getting 4th , just not torque converter lock up.
If it does lock up sometimes it could be either the Trans control unit ( or wiring ) not giving the signal ,or sticky solenoid, if not locking up at all the torque converter clutch is probably u/s

If the electric fan stays on after you switch off the ignition it means that the ECT has exceeded 110*C while driving which is hot and then the ECU reduces fuelling so the shift control is affected too... you have a cooling problem in the first place

What would that mean? They run halfway right up until the thing cooks. I'll never trust the std temp gauge again... Mine went from rock steady on half to right up above the red in about 50 metres. The car had done its head gasket ( plastic dowells ) and had been hot for a while if the scene under the bonnet was anything to go by, but the gauge said nothing. I'd only had it a week, and was watching.

If the temp gauge has NOT reached half way because of a faulty sensor or dirty plug then lockup will not engage.
I was referring to this but his subsequent post indicates the opposite.
I recommend an accurate dry sensor and gauge which only cost about $ 25 on eBay.

    regards PhilipA
