Head light globe upgrades D2a ??

Has anybody tried to improve/upgrade the headlight /high beam, globes on a D2a (02-04) headlight set up?
Just looking to see if there are any better options over original fitment.

I've put in LED ones. Very nice, but two of them lost the phospher and started to look purple. I am yet to find a decent replacement via ebay.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Can’t you just fit upgraded globes?

You can also get upgraded headlight wire looms from Traxide.

Just fit double relays and heavy gauge wiring. Then you can upgrade from the Lucas semi-sealed candles to a Hella 7" kit with QH bulbs. I run 100/135 watt bulbs in my County.

Discos don't have round headlights or glass lenses, Brian. 60w is as hot as the plastic lenses can cope .
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

They also need to be UV cut in the plastic lenses.

    What Slunnie said ^

'Plus 130' globes @60w throw roughly the same light as 100w 'normal' QH globes without the heat.
Osram or Phillips are the go, or Narva, who use Ostam globes.
Don't be tempted to buy cheapies.

I thought he was talking about a Series 2A, a real Land Rover. Now I look back at the original post and see that he was talking about a St. Margarets taxi.

The Disco2 does have glass lenses. I ran 90/100 H4's for a long time, I cracked a lens doing a late water crossing once. Those globes do need a Traxide loom for reliability as the factory plugs melt.

I'm not sure what the OP's Disco2 update headlights are like as its a totally different setup.
