I don't know about the last few years, but in the past Transmax Z met the GL4 gear oil spec, too.
It was the ATF all others were rated against.
Back when Penrite introduced their full syn ATF (based on Korean sourced Group III base oils which are rated as some of the best available) they bench marked the oxidation tests against, you guessed it.

The Penrite ATF FS seems to work nicely in the Disco 2 box, the changes and lockup are dead smooth and FWIW I have some going away to be tested after a cooler line failure a few weeks back.
The trans only had between 2 and 3 litres left at the finish, so after topping up and running a couple of hundred km we'll see how well only a film of oil protects.

PAS 14315 is a hydraulic fluid formulated mainly for low temp performance, hence why its a semi-synthetic, with friction modifiers to eliminate noise and groan in PAS use.

I've used a few different ATF's and PAS fluids in the Deefer and Transmax Z was the only one that was as noise free and had the same consistent feel as PAS 14315

I never tried ATF-FS in the PAS.

I use it in my D1, no noise no groans, no change to what was in it before.
I had the silly situation where the union on high pressure line on the stg box came loose for some reason .. the hardest one to get a spanner on!.
Lost all the fluid, made groany noises.
Only fluid I had to top it up again once the union was re-tightened, was my bottle of ATF-FS, so had no option.
That was back in about Oct/Nov or so.

Ah! OK. Didn't think you'd have so many strange issues in such short time span.

Yep, pretty sure it used to be the go to for T5 gearboxes in performance Falcons recommended by Mal Wood and the like.
