How old is your clutch? ... though a live data log would be relevant, if you dont have a tester unplug the MAF and see how it goes then
A long time I always want my TD5 Manual 03 to catch up with my wife's Auto TD5 04's quick response and fast acceleration.
Only tonight, after several tests and tweaks, finally mine is showing its wild performance and it is a lot better, faster, more grunt, and much more responsive than my wife's Auto TD5.
BUT...
Yes, only one situation that I still can feel the lag although it would happen 3-4 times faster than it was. It is when you drive up the hill with nose up to the sky and get the red light. Then at green light, the car will quickly go from 800rpm - 1200rpm - 1000rpm then quickly rocks like a beast to 2000rpm and above.
Definitely on my wife's Auto there is ZERO LAG at any situation.
So bros, what is the cause? and how to sort it out completely on a Manual?

Its 2.5 litres... no boost = no go.
You cant make boost without exhaust gas on a turbo.
I have no idea, the clutch is not slipped btw. I only have the car in 3 months.

Unplug the MAF will still have the similar symptom.
Yeah, however this ONLY happens when the nose is up to the sky. If the hill is not high then the lag is almost zero. On normal roads then there is zero lag now and it spools up really quick.
Check the wastegate to not be sticky

James - in stock form the Manual Td5 takes a bit of effort to get it wound up as the turbo does not come on until around 1600-1800 rpm. So to launch you need to keep the revs above 2000 which means a lot of clutch slip to get it away and it is just not worth the extra wear and tear.
The stock 0-100kph time was 14 seconds for the manual and 17 for auto. Very slow by today’s standards where sub-10s is the norm.
My previous worked Td5 (remapping, large intercooler, and lead foot), at best could do 0-100 in under 11s. Good for a Td5 - but slow compared to modern cars.
My manaul I run Td5inside hybird turbo and remap with allisport manifold and boost comes one at 1200rpm and it takes off, I am definitely going to get an vnt at some point

I am not a light foot by any means. On normal roads, most of the time I see other cars behind the mirrors after the red lights, and I feel the power and performance is very well at the moment.
The turbo boost would quickly kick in from about 1350 - 1400rpm.
I will spare time to check some components, might be a good time to consider a new/rebuild waste gate and turbo?
I think I found the cause.
Only yesterday when fitting a custom dual battery tray next to the turbo which I had to remove the heatshield cover, I found there were broken manifold front bolt number 1 (bottom) and lost rear nut number 5 (bottom), and this is exact the same problem on my 04 TD5 HSE Auto which even had 2 broken nuts 1 and 5
