    D2 key programming

Hi all, when programming a new key does it need to be cut and in ignition to program?
I am unsussefully trying to program a new key, it is not cut as yet. I go through all the appropriate steps with nanocom evolution, follow steps on you tube it comes up with key sussefull but at the end it stays on undetected. I have contacted where I purchased key and comfirmed code, next step will be to locksmith I suppose? I have programmed d2 keys in past but can’t remember if I had them cut first and used in ignition.
    Any suggestions?

    No.

I've programmed my FOB only, then used the already cut key(blade) out of the old one into the new FOB. So doesn't need to be in the ignition, or ign on, to program it.

Get the YouTube procedure and follow it implicitly, there are a couple of tricky steps that need to done correctly for it to work.

    Key Programming

I would suggest that rather than observing a Youtube video, that you obtain a copy of RAVE (available via AULRO) and follow the procedure detailed. It works!

I apologise for misinforming you. The only reference in RAVE to reprogramming refers to Testbook. The reprogramming procedure for Nanocom Evo works, but you must ensure that the process detailed is strictly adhered to.
