    Overboost Cut Off

I was driving home yesterday, wanted to see how much boost I was getting. Nanocom had 1.4Bar and rising, then a sudden drop in power. Then boost would only go to .7Bar. I had a Driver Input error, which I cleared, and all was back to normal.
The thing is, how do I prevent this happening again? Change the length of the waste gate rod?
I do not anticipate giving it that much welly in normal use, however a time could arise when I need sustained max boost and getting this cut could be disastrous.

    TIA

With a turbo overboost situation, the Nanocom will read faults saying that.

The error you quoted could be caused by a number of things, but generally not an actual turbo overboost fault.

    I'd be looking elsewhere.

    Cheers

You can either look to reduce your boost levels to avoid it, or can reconfigure it to be able to handle it. There's a number of threads of mine on here since 2011 that document my experiences in dealing with it on my MY03 D2a, but in short I'd suggest working with your tuner to fit an uprated MAP sensor (OEM Mercedes-Benz Bosch unit that is direct fit to the Td5 inlet manifold) and have a software clamp applied on the MAF signal - this should set your engine control system up so that it can handle the higher boost pressure levels without fault.

No boost box, so soft ware, but driving around it's stable at 23psi, but I was doing 4th gear pulls for the tuner to dial in the map so it was needed to go WOT and my boost gauge shows 30psi at 4000rpm

The old school fix for that was to instal a “boost box” which as i understand is a voltage clamp and it intercepts the MAP signal - I have one

The tuner has asked for a log file, I am guessing that the fix will be a tweak on the ECU file. But I'll let the expert work that out.
