Man that is such a nice looking piece of gear. I have to get one of these.
Do you mind disclosing the cost?
If you do, sent me a PM.

I beg to differ. The EGR cooler return is on the edge and has a smaller diameter. See the image.

The different pictures don’t help - but the EU3 Td5 has a line beneath the expansion tank as well. Not sure if they changed this set up between different years with the EU3 version as have also seen a second line on the side. So perhaps it depends on which bottle is installed.

I am thinking this is a red herring and the expansion tank is a cheap replacement and has failed at a different point.
Look at the bottom.

That's what i was speaking about ...sorry i missed the pic from the OP first post cos it didnt open first time for some reason, now i see that big hole in the bottom
Just checked my old tank which rests in the garage and that "port" is there on Eu2 too but it's actually not a hole through it, it's blank from factory but it's interior bottom is thinner than the tank's body so i presume it's there to blow if too much pressure builds up in the tank [bighmmm], interesting, i didnt observe it untill this discussion
If it is leaking from that hole, how to fix it. I do not think that epoxy will work on nylon.
I think there is not enough room to add a very short hose and a blanking plug.
Better to get a new tank.
IMO untill the tank is replaced a proper OD glued rubber bung forced into that hole should be OK
