    Early TD5 Remap

I've been advised by the previous owner of my wheels that

"The 1999 TD5 has a Bruce Davis Chip. Re TD5 ECM; it's an early TD5/injectors so doesn't use the later "standard" reprogrammable ECU. I believe though, Bruce fits a reprogrammable chip to these earlier ones, so they can now be redone/changed easier/cheaper. "

With my very limited knowledge data base, just how easy is it to modify and / or replace the existing BD chip? I would not be fiddling, but do have a Nanocom Evo and a very good indie in DazzaTD5 on here.

I did contact BD with a couple of related prior questions some months ago, but to date have not been honoured with the courtesy of a reply .

I didn't think you could reflash the early ECU's, even the DPL ones.
    Cheers

Hi Gavin, so you have another TD5. Next time you are down my way I have some chips ie; sports mode ect that I have never used and you are welcome to try them. I presume that you have a base installed in the ECU so you can just plug one in. Regards Nick

G'day Nick and the answer is actually NO, not another but my long suffering existing as per signature. To all intends and purposes my since 2013 RRC is a 1999 TD5 D2 for engine and transmission, hence easiest to post in this (well known) section for TD5 questions.

Won't be down for a while 'cos daughter has decided on the warmer climes of Kalbarri for a few years until the tiddlies need high school learnin'. But will let you know when coming in the interim and definitely interested in bits if I can confirm they are useable for my old girl.

Will also have to discourse with discorevy from Nirvana near Albany way, who has an awesome set of maps (albeit for a D2a).

That was my understanding too, but I'm living in hope! I think the discussion was based around replacing chips rather than re-flashing, but someone on here will know for sure.
