Just checking that the top (highest) nut on the starter is 15mm?
I had been thinking it was a 13mm nut, but 13 and 14mm didn't seem to fit, but15mm does seem to fit.
Just don't want to round nut because I put on wrong sized socket.
And again on a land Rover, why couldn't they have placed that nut just a few more MM easier to access, so that it allowed easier access for sockets and such?
Just did mine for a second time about a month ago and the top nut was 15mm for a TD5 Auto, there is some thought out there that the manual gearbox has a 17mm.

15mm Great, that should make the the task of getting correct socket on it a little easier.
I was underneath it yesterday in 40C and 80% humidity for about half an hour before I figured that although I had read that the top nut was "difficult" to get a socket to, perhaps I was trying the impossible.
Many thanks.
Yeah I read the 17mm bolt thing too and thats what I took out to try but ended up on a 15mm, TD5 Auto '04
I did the top not from the top, but had the fuel cooler out the way.
