Spill Fuel Return Connection torque. AKA FPR hesd return pipe.

The torque is not in RAVE, I have 14mm crows foot socket, a 3/8th extension and a 3/8th torque wrench, How tight do I do this? I am from past experience more than capable of over tightening and stripping bolts. I'd like to avoid this if possible.

I don't think it has to be very tight as long as the pipe is fully into the head.
There is an Oring on the pipe which could be crushed if it is too tight.
    I have had both cases.
On the FPR end I obviously did not have the pipe fully in and result diesel everywhere and after I tightened it up gently the leak stopped.

A couple of weeks ago about a year after I fitted a new FPR and pipe it started ****ing out of the front! I found the union too loose by about 1/2 a turn but after I tightened it , it still leaked a bit so I deduced the oring was split. There is a photo earlier in What happened to your D2. The Oring had a bit missing, presumably from excess movement. A new oring fixed it.

I wonder if the Britpart oring material is crap.

So to me the correct tightness is quite low but tight enough as the oring is the seal not how tight the nut is.!

I looked on Microcat and did not see an O ring. There is this STC4509 on the head side. This O ring is used several times on the FPR. Since I have my whizz bang new tool, I guess I could take it off and see if there is one, or if there is room for one.

I don't know if there is an oring at the FPR end, as I just tightened it up and the leak stopped.
There is definitely an oring at the other end.
I bought 2 to be safe.
Credits to British Offroad at Chevallum as they got them in in one day having never sold one before.
It's usually part of the whole FPR plus hose.

The 14mm crows foot socket arrived. What a great piece of piece of kit. The 3/8th torque wrench had 6.8Nm as its lowest setting. I tightened the nut maybe half a turn. I put on the 1/4 inch torque wrench, set it to 5Nm, tightened a smidge more and a nice click. Rest to 6Nm and tightened another smidge, another nice click.
I think that I have been unable to properly tighten the nut with a regular open ended 14mm spanner. Hence the occasional leak. The access makes it tricky. Not the case with the crows foot socket.
