    Cloudy Headlights an option maybe.

USE THIS METHOD AT OWN RISK, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IF ANY LONG TERM IMPACT ON HEADLIGHT COVERS.

Headlights were looking "cloudy" on the D2, and there seemed to be all sorts of info on how to remove the "cloud", some involving some sort of coating that needs to be put on after removing the 'clouding".
Others advise that any improvement is short lived and they revert to 'cloudy" due to cleaning removing some sort of UV protecting coating.
I really couldn't get any definitive facts on cloudy lights and cleaning therof.
I show pictures of my before and after on the D2.
(I had done one light before I thought to take pics incase useful to others.) Both lights were as bad as each other at start.
2 pics on left are "before' 2 on right are "after".

    before 1.jpgbefore 2.jpg after 1.jpgafter 3.jpg

Lights at least appear cleaner and much less "cloud". Might at least be an option if selling the car and don't want to buy new headlights.
I just used "Silvo", as I didn't have any "Brasso" which I used to use to finish off new car acrylic paint jobs, but figured I would see how "Silvo" worked.
Took me about an hour of elbow grease and cost $5.

(I do have an additional step for removing really heavy "cloud" from lenses, PM me for instructions on how to if the Silvo doesn't work well enough.)

Unbelievable it works brilliantly .....how the hell do people discover these things what on earth would make someone think, Oh im going to clean my headlights with insect repellent .

But whatever it does work they are now shiny and no insect will dare go near them now.....it took to longer to write this than it did to clean...Thx

Dunno Mike, mine still attract the bugs n flying things and that's not what it says on the can.
I thought it was just because of the delicate English skin on them

2000 grade wet n dry works well to remove the heavy oxidisation before the polishing

I can suggest using 3m AA2 "ultra fine" (which i think might be bit finer than 2000), and I know it works well on headlights, and I used to use it on new acrylic paint jobs before finishing with brasso. Works much better if you have a dish with much detergent in the water to dip the wet n dry in.

If Aeroguard works, I will be trying that next time.

Or you could all retrofit D2 headlights.
No more worrying about polycarbonate reacting to UV. Cloudy Headlights an option maybe.Cloudy Headlights an option maybe.

(That's a dig at all us D2 owners lusting after D2a headlights and fitting them at $$$)

Specifically Aeroguard, or will a generic personal repellent work? What about insect spray?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Its likely to be due to the DEET active ingredient used in most repellents. It will attack plastics like sunglasses etc - probably the reason it breaks down the oxidised layer on the plastic. Not typically found in insecticide sprays.
