    Need help. Battery connection abortion....

Does anyone have a photo of their ORIGINAL battery connection on the positive side?

In trying to figure out what in the hell the previous owner of my car has done here so i can rectify it.

Im getting through all the odd jobs on this car and i want to start adding some accessories. But not until i fix this abortion of a terminal post setup. But i need a reference of what its meant to be like from factory. Or even better, what you guys and girls have done to improve over factory.

The factory twin lead connection seems incredibly short, either that or my battery is very wrong. I don't know, hence this post.

*Note, yellow stuff is just a terminal protectant spray and the one connection on there is only temporary*

The problem is that the wrong configuration battery is installed - the battery terminal positions are on the wrong side of the case.

    Bingo
The wrong battery configuration has been fitted here.

The positive terminal needs to be at the back of the battery for the leads to fit correctly.

Ok this is a good start. I want to replace this battery soon anyways so thats a start.

Can anyone address the clamping issue? Surely the factory setup isn't a wingnut like mine?

Find a wrecker with a D2 for the nut, bolt and cone washer.

    They're a horrible thing standard.

Cut it off, crimp a couple of lugs on and get something like this:

That hole in the factory + terminal is threaded, you can just put a bolt straight into that for your additional wiring.

I also use batteries with additional screw down terminals. The two that I use are Optima and Lifeline, and they both do this in different ways. The Optima has a regular terminal and an additional terminal post. The Optima is the starter under the bonnet. The Lifeline has a regular teminal post and then a bolt into the top of it. I use the GPL-30 150AH which is in a bin in the boot, so I'm not sure if the terminals (or even the battery) will work under the bonnet.

    Cheers
