D2 TD5 Diff Lock Switch wiring diagram

    Hi guys,

On my sons disco, he has just installed the Ashcroft diff lock lever kit.

But the diff lock light doesn't come on in the dash display. I have removed the switch and it functions although one of the terminals are a bit iffy so we'll replace the switch. I want to trace/test the rest of the circuit but can't find the relative page in the Rave electrical manual. Does any one know where I should be looking? I've tried under "Electronic Automatic Transmission EAT" but can't find it there. I also looked at the ACE, SLAB, and ignition interlock sections but can't see it there.

I also bypassed the switch and connected the two terminals together, the dash light still didn't come on. I've also checked the fuse, which is good. I'm assuming there is a bulb in the instrument pack, although I'll pull that out and check that as well.

    Thanks, James NZ

Not sure if there is a bulb, I think they are surface mounted LEDs.
I have just had a look at mine, any excuse to get out of the hose (lockdown 5.0!) You do have the ignition on? engine running? sorry for being Captain Obvious.
The High Low switch is in Engine management page 20.3. It just shows the supply going from the switch to the ECU.
The Instrument has the diff lock light on page 47.3
Both pages are the English 2000 Version, RHD.

    Hi Bohica,
thanks for your reply. It's not the high/low switch on page 20.3 that I'm after. But your lead to the bulb question and page 47.3 got me going in the right direction. Reading the Electrical Library Instrument section indicated that the switch is in the ABS section. So back to the Electrical Circuit Diagrams and page 35.2 shows the Diff Lock Unit (D150).

So thanks very much for the prompt. I'll have a crack at it tomorrow.

    Cheers, James NZ

If you've got an auto the other way to test if the computer thinks it's in high/low range is to press the mode button on the gear selector. If it's knows it's in low range you'll get an M not an S.
