Stick your hand on the disks as soon as it's done it. The disk that activated will be hotter then the others.

Just reverse what you’ve done and you should find the problem.

Why did you get rid of SLS? One of the very best things on a D2 in my experience.
    Cheers

    Its the dillusion of reliability

Vehicle is at best 16 years old and made it this far - yet its considered unreliable throw a new compressor in (or rebuild) and a couple of new bags and go another 15

I've actually reinstated 2 systems! It's so much better it's not funny.

I'm just a bit gun shy of the air suspension, I had a P38 range rover, the best car in the world, when it's working, and the air system left me on the stops more than a couple of times.

Also get out off road when I get the chance, so just decided the simple coil would do me, I'm a simple soul, will happily admit it's a great system though, especially when towing, which I also don't do.

    Don't compare the p38 system to a D2,

That's said, it's your car... Do as you please!

That's a good idea, I've got the day off work tomorrow to try and get it sorted, that will be one of the steps I'm using!

So, if anyone is interested in how this turned out, here we go.

Had the day of today to try and get to the bottom of the traction control issue, as suggested here I went for a quick dive and let the fault happen, then went around the brake discs to try and find the hot one, drivers side rear as it turned out.

That was one of the sensors I changed for a longer front one, so it's something I've done.

Take the disc back off, being very careful to clean everything before removing the sensor again, under the actual sensor there are two thin metal plates, I'm not sure whether to describe them as spacers or metal gaskets, they are very thin, caught between them is a lump of sand mixed with grease, I remove this and clean everything before resembling.

Result is a perfectly happy discovery going about its business, I can only assume the piece of dirt was enough to mess up the gap setting for the sensor, just hours to show how sensitive they are.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, you all helping is how I keep my land rovers going, much appreciated.

thanks for adding the fix,So many don't and we are left wondering.you would think that the grain of sand would make the gap between the ring and sensor larger rendering the sensor out of range and the abs would throw a light on the dash to say the abs was not working the same as the wire being unconnected but it is a landy so who knows.

That was exactly my thought, the gap being too big would get the light on the dash, but, as you say who knows, maybe resembling it I changed something else without realising, it's working so I'm happy.
