Is the tensioner in good order? Also check bearings on all belt driven components.
Hi
I was just wondering whether anyone have experienced similar issue and can give directions what wrong and how to fix it.
My D2 2000 has so far 2 times the battery light is ON while driving and I can hear something flickering what it seems to be from the engine bay.
The battery is ON for approximately 2-3 minutes then hear flickering and then gone.
So far it has happened twice and about 1-2 weeks in between so it doesn’t happen often. And it happened when the A/C was ON.
Is it the alternator on the way out? Anyone have had similar issue?
Thanks
Gus

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
yeah, could be a dodgy regulator, wiring or something along those lines
Since I got mine, I've run the nanocom on it in instrument mode.
Every so often it drops down to 13.0 volts, that I've noticed, but don't look at it all the time .. just the times that I've noticed.
I have two USB/volt meters fitted, one to the aux and one to the main, and it's really only the main that drops down to 13.0 volts every now and then.
Otherwise, on the whole it starts up at about 14.4, then settles down to about 13.8-14.0 volts depending on the length of the drive.
Why it sometimes dips down to low 13's, for a few seconds, then back up again ... is a bit of a mystery to me.
What fan speed are you running when A/C is on. The faster the fan speed, the higher the power draw from the battery(ie. battery voltage drops a bit, with any power draw).

Put a multimeter across the battery and check the voltage when it's running but I'd think it's probably the alternator. If it's the alternator if you have the time I ordered a rebuild kit from the UK which has a new diode pack and brushes etc. I rebuilt my previous alternator with a kit as the one that failed was bearings as well and was an after market, not genuine. The rebuilt one has been working well for a few years now
Check that the battery terminals and earths are clean and tight.
The day I bought mine it stopped on the way home and it was a loose battery terminal.
This eventually killed the alternator along with the front camshaft plug leaking oil into the brush box.

Thanks everyone. It looks like the alternator is on its way ou
Anyone know where to get alternator repair or rebuild kit?
Thanks
Gus
My D2a V8 alternator failed a while back and on inspection the brushes were worn down to tiny stubs.
If the bearings and reg are OK all you need is to fit a new set of brushes, These are easilly and cheaply available on Evil bay.
I fitted a new set of these brushes to my D2a alternator 3 years ago and it still easilly cranks out 14V+.
I bought a replacement alternator at the same time I ordered the brushes and that spare alternator is still sitting unused in the shed.
Try replacing the brushes first if they are worn down, It doesnt take much skill to solder them in and they are as cheap as chips![]()
