    Rust

I have a small patch of rust in engine bay on firewall that would require the engine out to resolve properly I guess as hard to get at.

Is there anything I can put on it to keep it from spreading at pace that will be safe on the firewall.

Before you try anything, get in there and spray rust converter on it,, that should give you enough time to make a decision.

At 20 years old the only rust o my old silver one was on the roof from a rock chip, the drivers rear vertical window slide and that bolt on plate on the firewall,
They are an exceptionally rust free Land Rover.

    Mine is the same..

Only difference is the rust is on the passengers rear door rear vertical slide.

Have you tried to remove the steel plate on the firewall?

I see it occasionally and think that I should either replace it or treat it with something. ...and then promptly forget about it!

Penetrol, then paint, with 10% penetrol mixed into it. Both sides if possible. https://www.flood.com/products/paint...paint-additive
