Would think the top right bolts would be very difficult with turbo insitu, having removed and replacing it a couple of times over the last few months. May be a good opportunity to replace the turbo innards as an upgrade when it is out - will be doing the D2a oil cooler and water pump when I change the turbo innards as a matter of course. The water pump on the D2 on a well serviced vehicle was a complete surprise!!

Hmmmm… something had gone very wrong with the coolant balance and or composition during the engine’s lifetime. It should be looking better than that. Mine has had 450,000km+ on OAT coolant and the water pump came out looking new.

As the engine only has 260 and at one stage had a head change as well, was not good!!

My car has about the same k's and what appears to be a newish head too. I know for a fact the PO thought swamp water made good coolant. With its tendency to run warmish, I reckon the water pump will look very similar.

So took turbo off as I replaced oil. cooler as well, replaced seals and gaskets and put turbo back.

Now I can seem to get socket and torque wrench in to torque turbo to exhaust manifold.

Any ideas or wisdom or special tools? 😊

I've had a leak since I bought it, but now - again - trying to pinpoint and fix.

Here's a pic taken under blue light and the green is the bit of oil damming up. It doesn't appear to be from the filter or centrifugal filter housing, as I had changed them a while back and they were dry.

Any thoughts about this?
