    Hi All,

Thanks you everyone for all the input into this topic. Purchased the new tank from Allisport and very happy with the look of the quality. Wil fit it tomorrow and hopefully that will be the end of coolant tank issues. Very impressed with the delivery time. I ordered it on the 19th of December and it arrived at my door on the 24th. Ironic how something from England gets here within 5 days, but if was interstate I wouldn't have it yet.

1 more question - The tank came with 2 rubber strips taped to the underside of the tank (sorry but don't know how to post pictures here), they look like they are for protecting the edge of a surface (maybe the mounting tag). Does anyone know where they're meant to go or if they're not needed and just not worry about using them? I haven't found anything of their website that suggests where they fit.

    Cheers,

    Vinnie

Yep, mounting tang as you suggest.
A drop or 2 of adhesive of your choice stops them from dropping off when removing tank, 1 is spare

Vinnie. Did you cop GST on the this?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Hi Dave,

No GST charged. Based on the exchange rate at the time my 234.96 pounds converted to $530.70 which is all that came out of my bank account. The bank charged me a $15.92 international transaction fee though.

    Cheers,

I'd be happy with that. Will have to order one myself.

BTW the car is his own D2 .
Maybe the hint here is to buy without the sight glass.

That is not an Allisport tank though. I would be interested as to what brand it is.

I might pose the question with Allisport before I purchase mine and maybe get a spare glass.

I sent Allisport an email detailing the failed tank (not theirs) with a link to the site.

Here is a copy and paste of their reply. I did also ask the question about availability of the float switch as a spare part.

    Thank you for the enquiry.
Our sight gauges are borosilicate glass and easily replaced, however it is most unlikely for it to fail unless it receives a knock.
We tested the design to over 8 bar of pressure at 200 degrees Celsius with no issues.
I have not seen that copy of our product before
We have stock of float switches if ever required
    I hope this helps
