A couple of year ago now I replaced the ABS shuttle valve switch and did the Option B mod. However the Amigos still visited afterwards - less often but enough to be a pain. [I've become proficient at selecting Neutral, switching off the engine, re-starting and shifting back to Drive in a couple of seconds, if the road is quiet.] But now when the amigos visit, they can't be reset by stopping and re-starting the engine. Fault "13-07 Shuttle valve switch fail - intermittent" has to be reset with Nanocom. And no ABS or traction control until that's done. Any clues, gurus? Should I just replace the switch again or could it be a problem elsewhere?
Check all connections from SVS especially earth ,this is assuming you soldered it all when performing the mod.
Also, (and maybe related?) is a persistent water leak onto the passenger side rubber mat and carpet. I believe the SLABS ECU is in the passenger footwell? From other threads, it seems the plastic plenum might be a likely suspect. Any other common sources of this leak?
Under the plenum you will probably find the hvac intake cracked , repair with waterproofing of your choice
Next annoyance is after starting from cold. The Td5 starts instantly every time and idles smoothly. But sometimes when put into R and given a little throttle to back out of the carport, the engine initially coughs and farts for a few seconds before is smooths out again and she begins to reverse. This is sometimes accompanied by some blue-ish smoke and seems worst if the car hasn't been started for a couple of days. Again, any clues? The fuel filter is not very old and the fuel pressure regulator was replaced about 2 years ago.
Could be time for injector seals , replace the harness and cam cover gasket inc grommets while you're there
Last and latest annoyance: in the last few days, when accelerating hard from say 80 to 100 kph, I've heard/felt a slight but harsh sound, seemingly from the front of the vehicle. I haven't looked at the front prop shaft for some time. Might it be a possible suspect?
Hard one without driving, but if it's a high pitched noise it could be warped manifold / broken studs, modify ,machine flat, ceramic coat , replace studs and forget about it
If it is front shaft, you can tell when they're starting to go because the UJ caps go shiny with the heat from not having lubrication, replace with greaseable.
If this thing would only be as bulletproof as her older cousin, Lady Daphne 1 (300Tdi manual, almost 430,000 km), I'd lover her to bits as the power is wonderful.
They are bulletproof after the niggles are corrected, some I see have over 700 000k,( only having auto replaced) my own 2 have over 400 000k on them and have been running a lot more power than standard for a long time ( rest of drive train/ Brakes / suspension upgraded to suit )
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/info.
