No. I did originally try starting it with the intercooler to inlet manifold hose removed, as I had cleaned the intercooler with petrol
and I was worried about an engine runnaway, if fumes were still in intercooler

It's been on my list of things for a while.

It has to have the correct map for the engine you are running, and has to be synched with the BCU.
    I think you're is a D2A so you will need a NNN.

What got it in the end? I'm guessing fuel...

It had to be fuel and it is an NNN ECU. The Syncing I assume can be done with Nanocom, yes?

No don't need one, but I plan to do a lot of remote traveling with this car, so I thought it would be a handy spare to carry.

    Can never trust electronics.

Yes. Nanocom can do most things. Can be problematic to get alongside though.

Indeed. Carry an injector harness, a Nanocom, a lot of Electeclean or somesuch, and all the spares you would carry in any car. I'd pack an alternator as well. D2s stop really quickly when the juice fails.

Yep, have a spare alternator. I purchase it off the same person I got the motor from.

Do any of you know if a manual and auto ECU are the same, as I know where I could source an NNN from a manual?

Tins, where the hell is Hookturnistan? Google maps did not recognise it
