Do you mean 12v with the parkers on and 0v with them off, or with the ignition on/off?
Do you want the gauge light on/off all the time, or on/off with the lights?

What colours are the wires going into the plug in your image?
I reckon it's aftermarket(ie. someone has added it).
If the wires are all solid colours then more likely. If the wires have tracer colours, so two colours, then it's more likely a genuine plug.
I don't have that plug .. looks like under the drivers fuse box panel?

If it's aftermarket plug ... and as long as the power is on/off with your park lights(and headlights) and you prefer this .. then use either of them.

FWIW: the main distribution header for dash/switch lighting is behind the cluster. If you pull it out, which is easy to do, you will see a white coloured header block(left hand side, can't miss it). Looks like a connector, but wires only coming in from one side, not wires in and out like a normal connector. 20pin(or so) plug, all red wires, some with orange tracer, others with brown tracer colours. It's cable tied to the dash.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
