Why no go the whole hog and put in the original compressor assembly etc? Your SLABS then just needs to have a setting changed abd bingo you have SLS :-).
I have decided to upgrade the rear suspension by putting in the original/OEM air springs. May be with a 2 inch spacer. I am getting rid of the original coils and air helper springs, which have burst.
Looking at RAVE, I need to remove the coil spring bottom bracket and the top spacer, which I think will stay with the spring. SO the air springs will just fit in?
These will be manually operated via schraeder valves on the rear bumper.
Any traps for the unwary?

Getting a compressor and then relocating the aux battery which sits on the compressor shelf. It is tempting.
I think I'd need a switch on the dash.

have a look at my pics in the gallery,I modified an old compressor to use the valves them put a compressor inside the vehicle, you get to use the existing wiring and tell the computer you have air suspension, you will need the height sensors, and old compressor,a new compressor[nothing special] some extra wiring, some air line, job done.just make sure yours has the wireing, some dont.
Here's a scheme how to retrofit a compressor in other place and keep the SLS working
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Interesting thought, could an ARB compressor, looking at the twin, fit in the SLS chassis box. Solve a whole lot of installation issues would think if it does....

1997 Discovery 1 TDi Manual White - Gone but not forgotten
1994 Discovery 1 V8 Auto - Gone once it consumed half the worlds resource of oil
Biggest issue with fitting an aftermarket compressor is that the system's exhaust valve is part of the LR compressor, that is why i [modified[roughly] the original just to use the valves.
Check if a wreckers has a known good SLS vehicle - the compressor assembly is very long lasting if it hasn’t sucked in dust and water. Mine is still original and never touched.
