Talking D2 rear door (tailgate) hinge lube - how?

    Hi All,

My rear door ( tailgate ) is VERY squeeky when opening/ closing.

It’s definitely the lower hinge as I can feel it vibrate and see it bend as it’s opened.

    How to lube the hinges??

Remove / door and knock out the hidden pin, or is there an easier way?

Ive tried Inox spray but it can penetrate into the hinge.

Wish it had a grease nipple!
    Cheers

I had mine squeaking bad after a bog hole just flushed out the slide mechanism with water then lubed it up with lithium grease spray seemed to do the job for now.

Yep mine is definitely not the slide this time - its the actual bottom hinge which is very stiff.

I unbolted the hinge from the body and tried to rotate by hand but it barely moves without considerable force.
    Cheers

In all honesty this is the best stuff I've found,

Mind you I live in an extremely dusty environment, so anything that attracts dust is out.

Does it still open smoothly? Mine became very noisey when it had dropped a bit. Loosening the bolts, resetting the position and retightening has solved the bulk of it.

I loosened completely the bolts from bottom hinge to body, checked alignment and retightened- still the same stiff and squeeky opening coming from the stiff bottom hinge.

Going to try and lube again!

The issue is likely that your focusing on the wrong bolts. It's the hinge to rear door bolts that usually cause the issue - there's a black round grommet cap to access the first for each hinge, the second requires the door trim to be removed to access.
