Any noises accompanying the vibration?
Hi guys ... well after my 3.9 V8 cracked a piston ( another thread :- ( another problem ...
Our 2002 TD5 has now developed a rather bothering vibration at low idle basically , but does come back for a second or 2 between gear changes as the engine revs drop back as she changes up ... In the car you can feel it and even hear it when the gears move up and revs back off .. its quite a grumpy vibration ....
At idle ( 750rpm ) it rattles the dash board and you can feel it through the car body ..
As soon as you rev her it goes away and even up at 3-4000 rpm nothing but smooth as silk ... but as soon as you drop back to idle and the revs drop back under about 1000rpm it comes straight back ...
She basically runs sweet and smooth and actually pulls like a train !!! Engine seem about normal as far as noise and stability ..... but this vibrations feels horrid at idle and between the gears as the auto move through each gear it try's to come back for a few seconds each gear ...
She vibrates sitting there at idle in all gears stationary ... would the auto vibrate only at idle ? or could it be the balancer ??
As she only does it at idle and over 1000rpm smooth is as silk , I have eliminated any drive line possibilities...
Could the toque converter be dying ??
BTW -- Pulled all the covers and cant seem to see any belt wobble but could it be stuffed and not show it ? .
Got me buggered :- (
cheers Steve ( now batting one dead V8 and a vibrating TD5 both in a few weeks .. lolol
and any help would be great ...

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Engine mounts?
I'd be looking at the harmonic balancer very closely.

I second the harmonic balancer.... Unfortunately. They are an expensive bit of gear.

FYI, changed mine when I did all the work and although I had planned it, found an interesting aspect when I removed the old one, it did not at the time appear to be a problem but this showed otherwise...

Use a Ross balancer and you won’t have to do it again
