    SLS Playing up

My land rover discovery 2 2000 SLS starts to play up.
Occasionally when park the deflate. Sometime only one side but most of the time is both sides.
It happens even when the car is park. Once after few minutes I parked they deflate and sometimes after few nights park and they deflate.

Anyone has experience something similar and can tell what’s wrong and how to fix it?

    Thanks
    Gus

Sounds like a bag has a leak,You need to test the bags "on extended mode" with a a squirty bottle of soapy water.look for very small leaks\bubbles all over the bags especially were there is folds.Do it sooner than later as otherwise the compressor will be overworking and you will wear it out quickly, the airbags are easily replaced.

Thanks lewy. But they don’t deflate regularly it is so random. Sometimes it totally flat after few days even weeks sometimes totally flat in few minutes.

The car is not my daily car so I only drive it once a week if I am lucky.

I will check for leaks on both bags as you said as I haven’t done that yet. I am hoping to fix this intermittent issue.

x2 on the bags, the reason it's random is they will only leak on the rolls of the bags so will leak fast or slow dependant on parking angle / load .
as lewy said if you don't replace soon the compressor will need repairs as well.
    Very easy to replace

Another thought could be the height sensors/wiring, I have seen it where one would occasionally play up and drop the car on the stops really quick, then be fine for days.

But it's probably the bags, if you don't know their age, it would pay to replace them anyway, with the added bonus that it may fix the issue.

I checked the connection of the airbags but they both have different connections.

Please check photos. I also attached photos of the new one from ebay and wondering if this will fit mine.

The screw in one is the original design, the push in one is an aftermarket update.

The new one pictured will work fine, you just need to cut the end off the one that has a threaded fitting.

From memory Dunlop bags are push in fittings and seem good quality.

    Thanks Shack.

How to remove the pipe with the push in fittings? Just pull or there is trick for it?

A set of coil springs are a cheap option on a 22 year old car and the ride is still better than most 4WD'S even on coils.
They last much longer than air bags and are far less complicated and prone to failure than the original EAS.

coils only last as long as your load stays the same,, add a fridge or 5 people and coils no longer work.
Buy the bags, soon. Buy two. Keep the good one as a spare. Bags are considered a consumable, though a TEN year consumable,
