    Upholding the reputation.

My Td5 has suddenly developed a fuel leak, fairly major.
It's too hot for serious exploration at the moment, but a quick squizz suggests that it's not the FPR. I believe the FPR is mounted high on the block, rear right hand side, all dry there. It's very wet below the coolant reservoir, starting about level with the back of the battery box.
There seems to be a mass of pipes and hoses in the general area, any ideas or guidance appreciated.

As I said, fairly major, this was after shutdown.

Have a squint around the red arrow in the pic.
A leak at the fuel cooler is also in the frame.

Upholding the Reputation of home mechanics

Were you not just doing plumbing today?
As Mark indicated, it will more than likely be the return line to fpr.
For anyone reading this with a TD5 Aug 2001 on please check this hose ( gingerly ) as, after 10-15 years they get very brittle
( as Ian may have already discovered ) .
Edit: I have seen one on the side of the road that was very close to catching alight as it was spraying into the alternator

The first part of that statement is accurate, but the second phrase should read "It's gushing out."

Giving it some thought, I should only need to turn the ignition on to find the leak, yes?
Is the hoses available off the shelf, or will I need to visit a hose maker?

If you want to repair it and make it easier to change in the future, you'll need to get about 500mm of 3/8" EFI fuel hose and 4x EFI hose clamps to suit ( 10mm EFI fuel hose will do but its too loose a fit for my liking ), If you want to cheat, you can carefully saw or dremel the metal swage until near the pipe, then use some external opening circlip pliers to break the rest of the swage. ( be clean, no metal filings near fuel pipe )
when you have removed the rest of the hose at both ends, fit the new hose over BOTH the ribbed sections of pipe using 2x hose clamps on each end with each clamp just behind each rib( this will make sense when you have the hose removed ).
    Done.
From now on this hose can be replaced without having to **** about with the hidden 14mm pipe nut.

Yes , just get someone to turn ignition to find it, but probably just press on the hose and it will crumble anyway

Confirmed it's this hose. The rubber is in solid condition, the front sewage has failed.
