We had the same problem after a a new Tekonsha unit was fitted by an auto electrician. The unit was swapped for a red dot unit which has been trouble free.

Yep, I feel terrible about that. Hope I haven’t hurt its feelings.
Pulled the controller apart today and found the spring undamaged inside. Refitted it all good. [emoji106]
