The only problem with the early D2 is the lack of (easily) mappable ecu. But as he's looking at an Auto, this is not a problem. Auto NNN ecu's are easy to get.
The Botox version D2A headlights are crap. They look good though. Fitting D2 glass headlights into a 2A might be an option?
iirc those are the TD5's right? Check to see if the oil in wiring loom is a thing on both of them. If it has been fixed recently-ish then that is a nice bonus. A rebuild ZF box (because that is what they run) is a very nice bonus I'd say. In my experience the TD5 can handle 300+K's easily when properly maintained. I would -not- chip an engine that old though, no use in pushing the poor thing. So for my money, I'd gravitate towards the well maintained 300K one with rebuild box. Both vehicles will start getting the saggy headliner and quirks like that anyway due to age even if there is a bit of a difference between them, might as well get the well cared for one!
That's my 2cents.

Well he bought the D2a. He has service receipts for the last few services that the guy did on it,so hopefully it
wont be a money pit.
What would be the preferred oils for diff,gearbox/transfer box please as he,ll get a full service on it.
TIA
