Thread: Question: have brass diff plugs

    Just re the use of sealant, I found the rear diff plug hole was recessed and the surface was not level , so the flanged plug with Oring would not fully seal.

    Quite right. I think an O-Ring would be good as even the plastic plugs (which you can still buy I think) are flanged.... diffs aren't high pressure so I expect the plumbers tape to be ok until I get the right sized o-rings.

    The only 2 reasons LR went to plastic flanged plugs was:
    • to stop fooling people winding the plug through the thread into the housing.
    • Cost
