    Cargo Area Side Glass Replacement

    Hi All,
I need to replace the left hand cargo glass in my D2, after a rock from a mower did it in.

Whilst fitting new glass is not hard, my question is whether there is a reasonable rate of success removing an intact panel from my donor car?
Of course I do not have and glass removal tools, so that's a prob, and I've never done it before.

That said, second hand panels occasionally pop up so it must be do-able.

    Any thoughts, tips tricks?

    Cheers
    Ralph

Love to. Not sure I can justify the cost and effort........I've seen new replacement glass for about $150-$200.
But I will need the Sika to fit it and maybe a rubber trim.

    I'll have a think.

I reckon changing the glass would be heaps easier than replacing the panel.

In the process of doing both (my replacement panel didn't come with glass in it) glass is easier but requires more care and attention, swapping the panel out just took ages but was dead simple.

Without giving a blow by blow, what's involved in a panel replacement ie, is it fiddly or just a pita?

You need to remove all the interior trim on that side which takes forever, it's held on by a bunch of bolts and butyl tap all round to seal it. Cleaning the butyl off sucks, there's a smidge of seam sealer required up along the top under the gutter line. Nothing hugely hard it just takes ages, you can mostly do it with one person but you'll want a hand when you put the panel on to help line it up etc. There are instructions for it in the workshop manual somewhere.

AFAIK from watching an Obrien's glass bloke replace my RH cargo window, all you need to remove the glass is a wire pushed through .
The manager of a caravan park whipper snipped next to my car and shattered the window. Luckily he paid as the window with (****) antenna was $490.
You will see what is needed from removing the broken window.
The new window just glues in place with Sikaflex 227?
