Car down the road is hard to start in the cold, lots of white smoke. When it gets warmer, in minutes, smoke goes, and runs fine. Driver thinks it is the glow plugs. Is it?

Even if not the glowplugs are the problem it's good to have them in working order for the sake of your engine, if you can unplug them and measure resistance across it's tip and head you can see which one is shot cos it must be very close to 0.9 Ohm if it's OK

Personally I think it's most likely injector seals.
