I think brake dust is just one of those things. The only basically dustless pad I know of are the EBC Greenstuff but I'd never refit them again. I run the EBC Yellowstuff pad and they perform better than the Bendix you have in my experience, and like the Bendix will also produce dust.

I'd always insisted on Bendex on everything from trucks and trailers, down. The last pads I fitted to my Disco were ECB. I'm happy with the performance, but they shed a lot of dust. Since the removal of asbestos from the friction compound, I think brake dust is something we have to live with.

I used to use BENDIX 4wd pads and agree with your assessment. I now use REPCO RCT, they are a ceramic pad which are cleaner and bite really hard and do not fade - they just bite harder.

Are they hard on the rotors, Bob?

I would say no, and I am running regular DBA rotors that were fitted at the same time as the RCT pads way back in 2018.

I agree vs comparison to Bendix.

My D1 used to have TRWs as I got it, and I replaced with RCTs too. Reasonable price(approx 130ish back in Dec '19).
Now done 40+ K Klms, I havent' noticed any extra disc wear. Zero noise still a small amount of dust, especially compared to the TRWs, on my sliver alloys.
Initial bite is much stronger than the Bendix on the bros' D2. Overall the D2 brakes seem more powerful once the Bendix do get hooked up, but this could also be that the D2 had the calipers rebuilt, where the D1's calipers need some TLC. The old TRW pads were worn unevenly on each pad face .. usual suspect is sticky pistons. Oh! and my D1 has no ABS and hence solid discs up front too. I suspect overall power should be down compared to the new discs on the D2.

I fitted longer braided lines to the D2 recently too, which helped a smidge, but D1 still feel better.

I recently checked the D1 brake condition and at +40K klms still good maybe more than 50%, but a lot of the driving has been in highway conditions since fitted(my work location was 90% highway type conditions). Now tho, it's through the burbs, so a lot more stop go. Next brake pad change I'm thinking rebuild rears, and change fronts to vented and new discs too.

Bendix also supposedly have a ceramic for the D2 type pads(according to Repco), but nothing to be found on the bendix site.

The other option I'm thinking for the D2, as they'll be due soon, maybe the DBA pad range. But for sure I won't be using std Bendix on it again.

Level of dust hasn't been extreme for mine, but having had a variety of audi's even blackened wheels aren't dirty yet! Finding these Yellowstuffs to meet the expectations against the good reviews of them.

Availability and price are another thing though, they better last!!!!
