    water gettin in manual gearbox

Hello friends! I have a manual discovery td5. The gearbox has been drinking water and turning the oil to a salmon color.

breaths are fine. there are no leaks. I change the oil, and 50km later, it is light pink. I don't step in puddles. I just walk in the rain rarely.

It's obvious that it is sucking water from some where if I were you that gear box would be coming out and would be resealing all joins with new gasgets and sealant. I would put air through your breathers water has a habit of sitting on top of your gear box where the shifter comes out if the rubber boot is stuffed water can seep through the top of your box hope this helps.

Could be a split gearbox lever boot if it happens after wading. Not uncommon with a lot of gearboxes of differing makes.

friends, I connected a compressor to the breather tube. I released the air gently. Enough to hear the pressurized air escape just through the top of the gearbox. at the base of the lever. Nowhere else was there any sign of air escaping. some people have suggested that water is getting through the seal. where is this seal?

The seal is actually a rubber boot that covers the bias plate on top of the gear box this can split and let water sit on top of the gear box this then allows water seep down the shift leaver.

Ah yes! As I said, I sealed this part at the last oil change because there was no longer that rubber on top. Dear Ianey, now I'm remembering that I just changed the crankcase oil. But I didn't bleed the cooling ducts or the radiator. So this mixture could just be contamination with old oil that was left there. What do you think?
