Won't go over 60km/h

Got a new MAF and car is even better in the top end. Taking off and pulling out into to traffic is still dangerous af, so it did not fix this new issue. Car is really bad when its cold. Once is warmed up its manageable but still not ideal.

Idle up to 2100 is complete flat, zero acceleration, then once it hits the turbo it get full boost and takes off. Its like nothing nothing nothing bam full power. Its similar to when you take off in the wrong gear in a manual very slow and no go.

Its interesting that this issue only arose since i changed the fuel pump, so either the new fuel pump is the issue or the old dud one was masking the issue.

Check the wastegate to not be stuck open or the EGR full of muck to restrict the air flow to the inlet

I checked the wastegate, the actual flap on the turbo works well moves back and forth, sprayed it with wd40 anyways just to help it. The actuator moves in and out but has a lot of resistance assuming this is normal. One thing i noticed is it has a slight sticking point where the first few millimeters moves then sticks a bit then goes all the way fine. It only does this on the first time, if you go back and forth it goes straight in and out.

The Egr i removed today and cleaned it out, it was black and mucky but certainly wasn't blocked. I am fairly sure they are meant to have a butterfly and mine has either been eaten by the engine or removed in the past.

Is it likely the fuel pump could be an issue, as this non acceleration only began after i replaced the fuel pump. Also i am fairly sure its either a fuel or air issue as i noticed the other day my exhaust tip is very sooty and the whole time i have owned it its never been overly sooty. Also does the ecu require a certain amount of time to optimize itself again once new sensors ect have been fitted? Or is it pretty instant?

Pretty sure i have found the issue. The fuel pressure regulator is leaking fuel, only discovered this after doing a stall test and got under to find out what the drips were all about. So i guess i will replace that and see what happens next.

I’ll be surprised if it’s the cause if only dripping.

Mine failed to “pouring” and still had boost and could do legal speeds to get home.

Mine is a constant drip at idle, an by the mess must be squirting under load. The car still drives and can get up to 100km/hr, its just the idle to 2000~rpm range that is dead.

Hopefully it fixes it because after that is fixed not sure where else to look.

A quick list of everything that has been done.

New fuel pump
New MAF
New airfilter
New fuel filter
Oil and filters
Wastegate modulator bypassed and no improvement
Wastegate actuator has been checked and is free moving same with wastegate
Egr removed and cleaned
MAP sensor cleaned
Turbo hoses have been checked.

Original problem was the fuel pump dead and not allowing the car to go over 60km/hr, which was fixed with the new pump.
Now the problem is idle to about 2000rpm is nothing, zero power until the turbo kicks in. This problem only occurred after fitting the new pump

IMO you didnt notice this problem while the pump worked only on LP cos it was not enough power so it might have been there before. Actually the turbo doesnt "kick in", it works all the time based on exhaust gas pressure so you feel it's effect at higher revs cos it spins faster that's why the wastegate is there to be closed as to have all the pressure delivered into the inlet at lower revs and let out the excess when the boost gets too high. Based on your last logs there is too low boost all the way which can be the result of low fuel pressure caused by the FPR leak or faulty MAP sensor or AAP sensor which is not completely shot but giving false readings. As long as the FPR was ruled out and you are sure that the wastegate is closed below 2000rpm, there is no boost leak between the turbo and inlet manifold, no exhaust manifold leak or delaminated turbo hoses it's possible that the turbo cartridge is worn or leaking, see this Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 Turbo Cartridge Install - YouTube
