I had the same problem and it was the part that burns the particulates captured from your diesel emissions. In my case it had to be replaced. Usually the cure is to just drive for 30 min or more at 100kph to burn the particulates off but as in my and your case I couldn’t get the speed up.
I bit the bullet and just ordered a new one before i saw this post. Figured everything points to that and the fuel pump to my knowledge, has never been replace and the car has 250,000km so its a worthy gamble.
Also for everyone else, i checked all the vacuum hoses and turbo hoses and they seem fine, though after this i probably will just change all the lines and hoses as it sounds like they will most like stuff up one day as well.

Noisy, the system is still able to pull fuel from the tank even with a faulty pump. It is the cam on the injectors that generate the pressure to spray the diesel in the cylinders. It is just that without a fuel pump the system can’t cope with larger volumes of fuel demand. Usually it will drive along at dirt road speeds but when on the paved roads the system can’t cope with the additional demand. In neutral the engine can rev as it can do it with little fuel.
Car is back to new. Runs really well has plenty of power again. Only problem i have is the fuel gauge goes from full to dead empty and back to full, seem to relate with the sloshing in the tank. Doesnt do it all the time just every now and again I filled it up to see if that would fix it but it still does it.

Yeah i kept the old pump just in case it was the sender. Would have thought with the price of the pump it would be 100% working order. When i find some time i will pull it out again and switch it over. Also with the new pump in its reading 23mv on fuse 10
so thank you for all your help.
