TD5 Excessive Piston Movement ?
Hi,
I am right in the middle of replacing my TD5 head with an AMC (due to a cracked head) and checking piston protrusion. I have noticed that pushing and pulling on each piston, with a dial gauge on the top of the piston, there seems to be excessive play/movement in the inline/thrust direction (i.e. front to back not side to side) by as much as 0.2mm.
This is indicating to me that there is possibly excessive play in the little ends and/or gudgeon pin to piston clearance.
Does anyone have any experience/knowledge with how much piston rock is acceptable like I have described ?
I don't want to pull the pistons out to measure tolerances if I can help it. Certainly apricate some help here.
Thank you
Regards,
TAHAIC
