Thread: Headlights/transfer case

Later D1 headlights are the same to fit as D2 but do not have a black border like D2. I believe transfer cases will fit. Someone else better say as I am not sure that the D1 has the Hi/lo switch on the case to tell the ECU to change the accelerator profile. Regards PhilipA

yes and yes.

One thing to watch for with the transfer case is the speedo drive.
On the D1, the speedo drive gear device is on the rear output cover.
On the D2's output cover it may not have the hole for it.(that is, it's sealed up good)

So you will either need to install the D1's transfer case with the now useless speed drive unit still installed, but not connected, or swap the D1's rear output cover for the D2's original cover.

When you say 'early D2' do you mean any D2 excluding the D2a, or literally an early(eg. 99 -01) model?

As far as I understand it, approx 2002 to 2003 some models didn't have the CDL mechanism bits at all, that included the nose cone not having any way to install a CDL mechanism.
All D1s do, so it's a common mod to install a CLD capable nose cone into a model that has nothing there at all.

This is something I need to do with the brothers' D2, where it has a blanked nose cone(it's an 03 model) .. and I have a couple of transfer cases to correct that LR error properly.

The switch I believe is the same as its used to light the dashboard indicator in both models???
