    TD5 Engine running key off

Since driving through flood waters yesterday,(gentle crossing) the engine continues to run with key off and out, will turn off in position II, water was above axels not top of rims, computer is clean and dry, would this be something to do with transmission sensor/s, or?? Buckley’s chance of it drying out in this weather.

That must be a world first! A TD5 that won't stop.. Won't start would be a different story.

There is a power wire that goes to the ECU from the ignition, that must be getting power somehow after the key is off.

There is a fuse under the steering wheel in the inside fuse box that power's the ECU, can't remember which one, but if you can find it and pull it you will be able to start to narrow down the possibilities.

Your note "Will turn off in Position II", I take that as the normal ON position. What position makes it stop?

Have you noticed any other electrical gremlins prior to the crossing?

It would interesting to see what would happen if you took the key out and locked the vehicle while the engine is running (Bonnet open and windows down!).

My D2 would probably wind its windows up.

There is a brown plug in the front right side of the interior fusebox, that loom comes from the ignition switch, unplug it when the egine runs with key removed and if it stops you'll need a new switch(the electric part which is at the barrel's back) if that doesnt help the next suspect is the fusebox which used to suffer from corrosion inside

    Fixed

Hey guys, thanks all, problem fixed, fingers crossed the water crossing had nothing to do with it.
replaced ignition switch at back of key barrel and all seems good till next Land Rover trial.
