    Front shocks.

For almost three years, standard height, front Bilstein shocks for a D2 have been unavailable. Les Richmond Automotive can supply, ex-stock, standard +30. Will these work alright with new, standard height springs?

Should do. I don't think they are like senceatrack shock. Just maybe a little longer. But I don't know for sure.

I don't think they would be too far off as shocks normally max out with additional travel in the springs and they're not the most efficient shock with their compressed lengths due to the gas canisters in the bottom of them. It will be marginal with Xmember and brake lines but it really wouldn't surprise me if they worked.

Its also worth chatting to Heasmans / Sydney Shocks to see if there is something that will work. For example, the lengths, rates and mounts I needed for the front happened to be exactly what the GQ/GU run as a rear shock.

    They're only shock speed sensitive.

Springs are cheap. Time for a lift to match the +30 shocks.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Nah Dave, I don't want a lift, for a number of reasons.
I don't want to raise the CoG or make ingress or egress more difficult.
I would need to put spacers on the rear air springs, no biggie, but more fiddling and cost. The ACE needs modification, I believe.
I have no practical need for a lift and the diffs are still the lowest point.
Finally, visually the proportions of a stock height D2 are spot on, why spoil a good look.

I will be replacing the coils with standard height, at the same time.

Ian, as the other boys have said the closed length will be OK, the worst that may happen is the springs may dislocate at full droop. Easy enough to check when replacing the dampers, and if it does you may need to fab up some spring retainers.

Don't think about worm clamps around the springs and perches, they are nasty, will transmit noise, (you have a nice vibration isolator on the top spring mount) and will snap on the fourth or fifth full extension.
I know about the snapping as I was a cheap arse and ran them on the rear of the 130 and was constantly replacing them.

Ian. Ace needs no modification. Rear spacers take about 15 mins each to fit.

As for looks. I would confidently pit mine up against a standard height D2 in a beauty contest.
