    Td5 Fuel Non Return Valve

Doing more maintenance on D2 and I knew of a valve at fuel filter housing.

Looking in RAVE I found an air bleed valve. Shopping around I also came across a non return valve which I cannot find anywhere in RAVE

    Can anyone explain?
Does it exist and if so why is it not in the manual?
    Have you changed it?
If so why? Was it for maintenance or were there symptoms and it so what were they?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

That NR valve is quite useless IMO cos it was fitted only to late 15+P engines, the 10Ps left the factory without it also it's a whole mess where it should really be cos on some Td5's it's in the front inner in others and in the rear inner port of the filter head and they all run the same like those without it. The air bleed valve is important to be in good shape cos that one can cause trouble. See this Disco 2 - TD5 fuel issues / starting issues fix | LandyZone - Land Rover Forum

Looks like it. However, it is not shown in the RAVE manual.

As Sierrafery pointed out, early Td5s didn't have this, which is possible why RAVE doesn't show it

So, now you know. If sierrafery says it ain't needed then ditch it. Knows his stuff he does.

Yeah. You are right about him knowing his stuff.

However, there is a link to another forum he posted. I had a peek and apparently earlier engines did not have it and it was fitted to latter engines.

There is a school of thought that maybe LR decided that it would be better with it, or that latter engines have a different fuel pressure regulator and maybe need it.

Either way I am not going to ditch it. I will for the time being just leave it.

When I get all my other issues sorted and I have time, I might take it out and see what happens.

I have friends who have got rid of it when it was clogged on late engines then it reduced power a bit and they say it's no difference whatsoever compared to when it was there from new.
