Hi all the horn on my D2 have stopped working so my question is what are people replacing their dead horns with I really don't want to put the original horns back in something very load would be ideal lots of dumb drivers here.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Those horns might be ok.
However, whatever powers them might be the problem.
Is there a relay? Is it operating? Does the earth side of the relay connecting properly?
Is the horn switch wiring all intact? Has the switch failed?
In my Def I had to install a relay, after replacing the original stalk switch. Both the original and the replacement switches were too frail to last the distance. - Poor connections causing heat, that then melted the nylon substrate that held the contacts. A relay solved the problem.
The original D2 horns had both a lovely tune and were as best I can tell waterproof. If repeated dunkings at Cape York didn't kill them then clearly they are. I don't know that the Supertones are as they advertise only "Corrosion and water-spray resistant".
Have you fully immersed yours in water crossings Mike?
There is always the option with the D2 of getting a set from a wreck.
Cheers
Thanks all may try the Hellas the originals drowned in a quite deep creek crossing I didn't think the crossing was that deep but apart from horns no problems can't sat the same for my mates MUX .
