Is my TD5 Alternator OK?
I have my Nanocom Evo permanently mounted in the TD5 in instrument mode.
Not sure if this is normal?
My question is - is it normal for the voltage to surge up and down within a 0.5V range within a few seconds, or is my alternator (or some other part like the voltage regulator) on the way out?
The voltage normally sits around high 13V /low 14V, even on a long trip.
1999 10P motor has done almost 200K km, and this is not the original alternator (changed it out about 20K km/5 plus years ago after we think a diode failed and the speedo stopped working).
There is a voltage drop issue somewhere that is still an unresolved work in progress after doing all the obvious fuse and relay checks.
There are two SSB under bonnet batteries that are nearly 2 years old, and apart from dealing with the voltage drop issue/s have been unproblematic.
