Thread: ICS Motorsport Discovery 2 Rear Caliper Conversion Kit - front brake setup on the rea

I purchased the ICS Motorsport < ICS Motorsport | Wales > Discovery 2 Rear Caliper Conversion Kit < Discovery 2 Rear Caliper Conversion Kit | eBay > to enable the installation of the Discovery 2's front brake setup onto the rear axle.Check out their posts on their Facebook for various pictures of the setup.Whilst it reduces the brake disc rotor diameter by 7mm (from 304mm down to 297mm) but instead of thin solid they are vented. And the brake caliper goes from being a single (45mm I think?) piston to dual 45 or 48mm piston setup (depends if you have the earlier 48mm calipers or the later 45mm).Installation is not as simple as their ads of few words would lead you to believe. No instructions are included. From a first look today I suspect the following:* The caliper mounting bone bracket fits to the diffs axel tube using the top two hub bolts.* The diff will require some grinding for the front brake disc rotor to clear. As you can see in the pictures the metal meat of the diff extends out past the hub size and in my test fit of a front brake disc rotor it wasn't able to slide on due to fouling on this. The rear brake disc rotors internal diameter of the bell seems to be a few mm bigger to get around this and the bell is not as deep.* The original Discovery 2 rear brake caliper mounts will need to be cut off and cleaned up for front brake disc rotor. From some quick measurements, the front brake disc rotor's bell is much deeper and will like extend far enough over to foul on these if not removed.* brake dust shields will not be able to remain.* unsure where the included spacers fit but assume that would become clear when able to put parts in place and see alignment.

That looks to be a right royal PIA, what level of improved brake performance are you expecting from this?

Not sure until there tried... But hoping to balance out the overall braking setup by improving the rear brakes in line with the improvement of the front brakes when the Brembo big brake setup was installed.
