I had to change my trans fluid a few times and the washer wasn't doing its thing properly so I smeared a small amount of the white Loctite (567?) thread sealing paste on the fill bolt, no issues with it leaking and wasn't crazy tight to undo later. I would think tape will be fine, I used the paste as that is what I found first in the tool box....

    cheers

I've put a new copper washer on the filler plug.

There is a small leak coming from it when the car is parked and it cools down.

    When it runs, nothing leaks.

My question is can I use some Teflon tape or even better some sealant around the thread to stop the small leak

    Your thoughts?

Thank you again for sharing the knowledge.
    yes

    this,

but be warned loctite 567 may not seal up in the presense of oil on the threads. my solution to making ure it works is to get the vehicle in a very nose up condition then remove the fill plug with everthing cold and engine running, wipe down the sump threads with a lint free rag soaked in brake clean cleaning the plug and then refitting with 567 correctly applied.
