Discovery 2 CDL

P/w has earth both at actuator and also at BCU pin 17, with connector in and out, also checked with drivers door open and closed and still had earth connection, also locked and unlocked. Connector 733 is also showing earth connection and no sign of corrosion

checked continuity of wire p/w from actuator connector to bcu and is good

I note that p/w also signals courtesy lights, I haven’t had those for some time since I did my headlining, but CDL has been ok during that time until now. Not saying it’s connected just a by the way.

It's a short to earth somewhere along that wire, eventually unplug C733 and check both sides to see if it's toward the actuator or toward the BCU.. all these measurements are relevant only with actuator and BCU unplugged, no other test is necessary... if it's toward the actuator check where the loom passes between the body ad door cos it used to be chafed there

BTW if you let the headlights on and turn ignition off dont you get the audible warning like when the door is opened?

Checked both sides, 733 to actuator No earth, but from 733 male section to 660 unplugged shows earth connection, have inspected as much of the loom as possible and can’t see any obvious signs.

Audible tone when lights left on with key in

Just went to finish up here, and it locked with remote, so got in connected nanocom and showed both passenger and drivers door as closed, opened door, showed open but then went back to it’s fault status. So may be a connection somewhere, or could it be the actuator ?

You must understand how this works, as long as you get earth between 733 and 660 unplugged that's the problem cos it's a short to earth on that path and for the BCU earth input means open door, it should be no earth there so the actuator and the wire to it from 733 are OK

can be a problem with the SLABS ECU too which is conencted to that wire, do you have air suspension?

while 733 and 660 are disconnected disconnect C0655 too and check for earth in pin 1(the same purple/white wire) if no earth then it should be OK in 733 male side too which means the SLABS ECU is the problem, if no air suspension cut that wire

Managed to test 655 on pin 1 and there was an earth connection, I will have more time tomorrow to find this short

In this case i doubt that your SLS works as it should cos the compressor is disabled when a door is opened so it is certainly leak free and te bags stood inflated without need of adjustment.

Can be very hard to find a short circuit if it's hidden somewhere so if no joy unpin or cut the wires at 660 and 655 join them together and splice into this with a wire connected to 733 male side(unpin/cut that too) as the section with the short to earth to be bypassed if you see what i mean.

Ok, completed suggestion, i do have pin keys but decided to leave pw tails into the connectors, fed a new section of cable through adjacent to existing loom and spliced new wire from 733 to 660 and 655, so locking and sls both working. However, open horn still sounds, and you can also lock with any door open, so it seems it is a fix but the initial door open signal still exists, any thoughts ?

I dont get what you mean by that^^^, which "initial door open signal"? do you mean that you get the misslock warning with all the doors closed?...what is nanocom showing now with closed doors?... explain better
