Got to do this. Has anyone had any success doing this without removing or cutting the headling? Can you get at it though the light fixture? My car doesn’t have a rear sunroof.

SupporterI think we need to do this on nephews D2 soon. not urgent, but I had a poke around the web for info on the topic.
One chap on the 'tube' with a username related to cats(as I recall) had a video up on how he did it through the narrow gap between the headliner join. Not easy to get to it, but he's as old as us, and managed it.
First thing I'd be inclined to do would be to determine if there is a signal getting to the BCU before condemning the RF box, as this is easier than going to the trouble of getting to the box.
The wiring diagram for the rf box is a cryptic mess. Wires not listed, plugs not listed .. it really makes no sense what RAVE shows, nor why it's wired up the way it supposedly is.
The only thing that does make sense is that the Purple/Grey wire is the power from the BCU to RF box, and that the Black/Brown wire is the RF box signal back to the BCU.
Both those wires have intermediate connectors(this is part of the doesn't make sense comment) .. one on the LHS A pillar kick panel, the other on the RHS a pillar kick panel.
(why wouldn't they both just track down the same path to the LHS to the BCU?)
Earth wire is connected down the back load area(LHS). Black wire at the RF box is shown in the circuit diagram, and shows connectors, but wire is not shown in connector view at the RF box.

It's not that bad. You have to remove the rear sunroof's outer trim and pull the headlining in front of it just enough to reach the receiver, doable in situ with a bit of fiddling... just fix well the eyelet connector under the retaining bolt to have god earth, i dont have better quality pic

Mine is an aftermarket sunroof but I’ll take a look.

Supportermy apologies. I thought the headliner was split into two halves.
video I saw on you youtube must have been sunroof type or something, which doesn't help you.
for sure check connections up front first, considering the fusebox issue you recently sorted.

SubscriberIf you do not have a sunroof at all you just remove the trim around the LH front door and pull the headlining down a bit. You can then reach in and remove the receiver without losing too much skin.
There used to be a broad range signal detector that you can check your transmitter with on ebay.
